چکیده
Orbital apex syndrome (OAS) is an uncommon clinical presentation consisting of complete ophthalmoplegia with vision loss, involving cranial nerves II, III, IV, V, and VI. OAS may result from trauma, malignancy, infection, inflammation, or vascular origins. Aims the study were to analyse incidence orbital in rhino-orbital mucormycosis a tertiary care hospital. A total 29 cases (4.1%) out 696 invasive ROCM as presenting feature documented. Amphotericin B both retrobulbar intravenous routes played crucial role arresting spread disease allowing only 8 (27%) show progression. FESS if done appropriately efficient debridement necrotic infective tissue can be powerful tool redirecting course for better (only 2 patients CST at time had history prior. severe, emergent fatal infection requiring multidisciplinary management. It often present initially. Mucormycosis must considered such timely aggressive management initiated avoid disastrous morbidity mortality.

BACKGROUND Rhino-orbito-cerebral mucormycosis(ROCM) is an invasive fungal infection that usually occurs in immunocompromised patients and sometimes presents as orbital apex syndrome(OAS) initially. It is rapidly fatal without an early diagnosis and treatment. We report the cases of invasive ROCM presenting with OAS initially in order to raise the attention of clinicians. METHODS We retrospect...
